Edina Race & Equity Task Force

To address what the City of Edina identified as long-term racial inequities in the community, the city council created an Edina-resident led Race and Equity Task Force in 2016 to identify, repair and prevent future disparate outcomes within the city. Along with the Citizens League and Joi Unlimited, turnlane was selected through an RFP process to serve as the neutral conveners of the project. Working together with the Task Force, turnlane designed the community engagement process, which included conducting one-on-one interviews, community conversations and listening sessions, and an anonymous online survey. Community input was synthesized into a report, which was used by the Task Force to generate final recommendations to the City Council. On Tuesday, May 15, 2018, the final report from the Race and Equity Task Force was presented to the Edina City Council, who unanimously approved it.
